What Is the DRX9000-SL?

The DRX9000-SL is a computer-controlled spinal decompression system designed for the lumbar spine. Treatment parameters can be selected based on factors such as the person’s condition, weight and the lumbar disc level involved.

The goal is to apply controlled decompressive forces to the lower spine. The system may be considered for low back pain or sciatica associated with conditions such as herniated or bulging discs, degenerative disc disease and posterior facet syndrome.

Standard vs Premium Spinal Decompression

Our current Chattanooga Triton DTS® remains our standard decompression option. It’s a programmable system that can provide both cervical and lumbar traction using customizable pull patterns, timing and force.
The DRX9000-SL will become our premium lumbar decompression option, adding another level of computer-controlled treatment programming and the ability to tailor treatment parameters around the lumbar disc level involved.

Think of these as two different options, not good and better. Some practice members may be better suited to the Triton, while others may be candidates for the DRX9000-SL. Your examination, imaging, condition and doctor’s recommendation will guide that decision.

Who May Be a Candidate?

DRX9000-SL decompression may be considered for those with disc-related low back or leg symptoms, including:

  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Sciatica and radiating leg symptoms
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Posterior facet syndrome
  • Persistent low back pain associated with an appropriate spinal condition
Decompression isn’t right for everyone. That’s why your first step is a clinical evaluation, not getting on the table.

Why Your Exam and MRI Matter

Your doctor will review your symptoms and health history and perform an examination to better understand what’s happening.

MRI imaging may also be required or recommended as part of the candidacy process. It can provide a detailed look at the discs and surrounding structures, helping your chiropractor identify the level involved and determine whether decompression is appropriate.

When will the DRX9000-SL be available in Smyrna?

We expect it to arrive in December. Practice members on our priority list will be among the first contacted once the launch date is confirmed. Our Triton decompression system is available now.

What does joining the priority list mean?

It lets us know you’re interested so we can contact you about a candidacy evaluation as the launch approaches. Joining the list doesn’t guarantee that DRX9000-SL treatment will be recommended.

Is the DRX9000-SL better than standard decompression?

Not necessarily. The DRX9000-SL and Triton offer different capabilities. The right choice depends on your condition, examination, imaging and your doctor’s recommendations.

Do I need an MRI?

An MRI may be required or recommended to evaluate your discs and determine whether you’re a candidate. If you already have recent imaging, bring it to your evaluation.

How long does treatment take?

Session length and the number of visits vary based on your condition and recommended care plan. Your doctor will explain the proposed schedule before treatment begins.

Does spinal decompression hurt?

Treatment involves controlled distraction of the spine, and the settings can be adjusted based on your condition and tolerance. Tell your chiropractor if you experience discomfort during a session.

How is decompression different from an inversion table?

Clinical decompression systems allow the doctor to control treatment variables such as force, timing and treatment patterns rather than relying primarily on gravity.

Can decompression be used for neck pain?

Our Triton system can provide both cervical and lumbar traction. The DRX9000-SL is designed for lumbar spinal decompression.

Is decompression an alternative to back surgery?
